Guedo celebrates its 50th anniversary!

The year 2023 marks 50 years of Guedo! Founded in 1973 by Jean-Paul Guedo in Vannes (Brittany, France), the company has come a long way since then.

In the early days, Guedo had just two employees and two activities: sharpening and tool sales. In 1978, the company moved permanently to Saint-Avé in the Kermelin industrial zone, acquiring larger premises in order to expand and meet customer demands.

Over the years, the company has developed three sectors of activity : winding, precision mechanics and the sale of protective clothing and equipment for professionals to meet its customers’ needs.

Guedo’s key dates

1973: Sharpening

A specialist in sharpening, Guedo covers a wide range of sectors: wood, food processing, automotive and mechanical engineering. We can sharpen steel, HSS (High Speed Steel) and carbide, as well as manufacture blades and cutting tools to your specifications, 100% compatible with your machines.

1973: Tool sales

Tool sales at Guedo began with a limited selection of tools sold over the counter to customers who initially came to have blades sharpened or, later, to repair, for example, their electric motors.

1990: Winding

The winding activity consists of repairing, maintaining and selling electric motors and pumps of numerous brands (Sermes, Xylem, Flygt etc.) for the industrial and food-processing sectors.

Operating exclusively in the Morbihan region, Guedo can get to your site quickly to offer emergency repairs or maintenance of your equipment. What’s more, thanks to its specialization, Guedo also offers preventive analyses of your motors and pumps, as well as personalized advice.

1994: Precision mechanics

This sector is subdivided into two different activities: small-scale precision mechanics and custom mold bases. Small and medium production runs of precision mechanics are destined for the agri-food, aeronautics, petrochemical, nuclear and arms industries. Custom molds bases are assigned to the cosmetics, perfume, medical and automotive industries.

In order to offer you high-quality mold bodies, Guedo keeps abreast of the latest technologies and regularly invests to modernize its equipment.

Because of its commitment to supplying high-tech parts and meeting total customer satisfaction, the company was able to develop the manufacture of custom mold bases for export to Europe in 2007.

2007: Guedo Outillage website creation

As mentioned above, Guedo used to sell a few tooling products over the counter. To diversify its offering and meet growing demand from professionals, in 2007 the company developed its first website, guedo-outillage.fr, dedicated to the sale of tools and workshop and worksite equipment for professionals.

2017: Cube Protection website creation

Buoyed by its success, the company then decided to open its second website, cube-protection.fr, and began selling work wear and personal protective equipment for various trades (building tradesmen, mechanics, landscapers, welders, etc.).

Guedo, a company in constant evolution

Over the years, the company has continued to evolve and grow, expanding from a 200 200m² building in 1978 to a 6000m² site in 2022, and today boasts a team of over 80 employees. . In 2011, Jean-Paul Guedo handed over the reins to his children, Lionel and Françoise Guedo, creating a true family affair.

Constantly evolving and concerned about its future, the company is committed to exchanging the knowledge and experience of its various employees to improve the quality of its products and services, and to continue to master its various business sectors.

Over the past half-century, Guedo has remained true to its values, passing on its expertise and team spirit to the next generation, while promoting communication. What’s more, helping young people into the world of work has been a key focus since the company was founded.
